The Savior for Cool White Porcelain! How to Use Opacified White Glaze Frit to Stop Yellowing and Body Show-through

How to Use Opacified White Glaze Frit to Stop Yellowing and Body Show-through.
Why do others' white-glazed porcelain look warm and jade-like, while yours turns grey, shows the body, or has pinholes? Don't worry. Here are 3 tips to properly use opacified frit and achieve high-quality white glaze at low cost!
01.Purity Determines Whiteness
Check the whiteness value first when selecting frit!
The recommended proportion of opacified frit is 25%–40% (adjust according to the body colour). Use frit with a whiteness value over 0.90 as the base to prevent yellowing or greying of the glaze surface.
Tip: Choose high-titanium / zirconium-based frit for dark bodies; hiding power increases by 50%!
Hiding Power Is the Key
Cover the body even with a thin glaze layer! Run a "green body hiding test" before glazing: mix frit with water and coat the body. Do mass production only if no colour shows through after drying.
A 0.3–0.5 mm glaze layer delivers translucent milky white, saving glaze material without glaze running!
Firing Tolerance as the Guarantee
Avoid pinholes and cracking! Choose wide-temperature-range frit matured at 1180–1250°C, compatible with electric and gas kilns.
Key point: Slow firing at the 200–500°C range (30°C/hour) to eliminate bubble risks.
