Chemical raw materials can be broadly classified into two categories based on their composition: organic and inorganic. Their preparation methods depend on the different sources of raw materials.

Inorganic Chemical Raw Materials: Taking Magnesium Chloride as an Example

Magnesium chloride is typically produced by extracting magnesium salts from natural salt lakes or seawater, followed by chemical reactions and refining processes. The main raw material sources include salt lakes, seawater, and minerals. Salt lake and seawater extraction methods mainly include raw material collection, precipitation separation, evaporation and concentration, and crystallization. Mineral extraction methods mainly include ore crushing, leaching, filtration, and concentration. Refining processes may include crystallization separation, electrolysis, and magnesium hydroxide precipitation.

Organic Chemical Raw Materials: Taking PX (para-xylene) as an Example

PX mainly comes from naphtha, an intermediate product in petroleum refining. After catalytic reforming or ethylene cracking, reformed gasoline and cracked gasoline are obtained. These are then processed through aromatics extraction to obtain mixed xylene, which is then separated by adsorption.
