Bone China Frit

Bone China Frit

GP-5809 bone China frit is a lead-free, high-zinc glaze frit for bone china, imitation bone porcelain, and thin tableware bodies firing around 1200–1280°C.
It is not an opaque white frit. It works as a clear and bright glaze base, helping the white body look cleaner, softer, and more refined after firing.

Description

Bone china glaze is not easy to balance.

The body is thin.

The fired color needs to stay clean.

The glaze should look bright, but not hard or glassy in a cheap way.

If the glaze expansion is too high, stress problems may appear later. If the melt is too aggressive, the surface can lose the soft, premium feeling that bone china should have.

GP-5809 was developed for this kind of application.

It is used as a premium bone china frit in glaze systems where the customer wants whiteness, translucency, and a smooth soft-gloss surface at the same time. In actual production, it is often applied as a white glossy glaze base, although the frit itself is closer to a transparent bright glaze structure.

That difference matters.

The glaze does not need to cover the body heavily. It needs to make the body look better.

What Makes GP-5809 Suitable for Bone China

GP-5809 combines a high-silica, high-calcium structure with nearly 10% ZnO and low sodium content. This helps the glaze stay clear, smooth, and stable at 1200–1280°C while giving bone china a softer, more refined fired surface.

It is designed to support the natural whiteness and translucency of the body, not cover it heavily.

Where GP-5809 Works Well in Bone China Glazes

GP-5809 is more suitable for products where the ceramic body already has good whiteness and the glaze is expected to improve the final surface quality. Typical uses include bone china dinnerware, imitation bone porcelain, thin cups, mugs, bowls, and high-grade tableware.

If you are looking for a bright white glossy surface, GP-5809 can work as the main clear glaze frit. If the target is a softer velvet-like gloss, it can be adjusted with other raw materials instead of changing the whole glaze system.

For factories making full tableware sets, this flexibility matters. The same glaze needs to stay clean and smooth on different shapes, not only on a flat test tile.

Phosphate Compatibility in Bone China Glaze

Bone china bodies often contain phosphate components from bone ash or related raw materials, so the glaze frit must match more than just the firing temperature. GP-5809 is designed for bone china glaze systems where phosphate compatibility, glaze fit, and surface smoothness all need to be checked together.

GP-5809 is better suited for high-temperature glaze systems where clean gloss, soft surface quality, and glaze-body fit matter more than strong opacity or low-temperature melting. It can help reduce glaze stress, but body warping should still be evaluated together with body formula, shape design, firing support, and kiln curve.

How We Check GP-5809 Before Shipment

For GP-5809, we do not judge the batch only by the analysis sheet. We also check the fired glaze surface, especially gloss, smoothness, and melting behavior under controlled firing conditions.

Bone china bodies are thin, so an unstable glaze response can show up quickly in production. If the fired surface does not match the expected result, the batch is held back for further review.

FAQ

Q: Is GP-5809 an opaque white frit?

A: No. It is closer to a transparent bright glaze frit. In bone china glaze, it is often used to support a clean white glossy surface.

Q: Why does this frit contain high zinc?

A: The zinc helps improve glaze maturity, surface smoothness, and soft light reflection at high temperature.

Q: Can it help prevent bone china warping?

A: It can help reduce glaze stress when properly matched, but warping also depends on body formula, shape, firing support, and kiln curve.

Q: Does GP-5809 contain lithium?

A: No lithium is shown in the current analysis. Some bone china glaze systems use lithium-bearing frits, but GP-5809 uses a high-zinc, low-sodium route.

Q: Is it lead-free?

A: Yes. GP-5809 is a lead-free bone china frit suitable for tableware glaze development. Final food-contact compliance should still be tested on the fired glaze.
