In many low-temperature glaze systems, clarity alone is not enough. When the glaze expansion is too high, stress accumulates during cooling, and defects such as delayed crazing or micro-cracks may appear months after production.
We approached the problem from expansion control rather than melt acceleration.Rather than increasing melt fluidity, the formulation focuses on reducing thermal movement within the glass phase while keeping the glaze transparent after firing.
Firing between 950 and 1050°C, it provides a practical balance: controlled melting behavior combined with stable expansion performance.

In practice, expansion behavior never depends on just one oxide. It is the result of how the entire glass network is structured.
Many low-temperature frits rely heavily on sodium or potassium to lower melting temperature. That approach works for fluidity, but it usually pushes expansion upward at the same time.
In our company low coe production, alkali content is deliberately kept lower. At the same time, the silica–alumina relationship is adjusted to strengthen the network structure without pushing the firing temperature too high.
Strontium oxide (SrO) is introduced as part of this balance. Compared with sodium-based systems, SrO contributes to structural stability while keeping expansion under control. The number itself is not the key. What matters is how the glaze behaves during cooling.
Optimized Silica–Alumina Percent
The SiO2-Al2O3 balance plays a critical role in thermal behavior:SiO2 strengthens the glass framework and lowers expansion, Al2O3 increases cross-link density within the glass network
Rather than simply increasing silica content, GlazePeak optimizes the silica-to-alumina ratio to reduce expansion while keeping the melting temperature within a practical low-temperature firing window. This balance allows the frit to function effectively at 1000°C without sacrificing transparency.
Our company's frit 512 incorporates strontium carbonate in its formulation, which helps control heat distortion and maintains gloss and transparency in a low-alkalinity frit. This makes the frit particularly suitable for applications such as bone china that require extremely low expansion and high transparency.
GlazePeak low-expansion transparent frit has a coefficient of thermal expansion (COE) of approximately 50–60 ×10⁻⁷/°C, which is lower than most standard low-temperature transparent systems on the market. When this frit is added to bone china glaze, it improves glaze adhesion to the body, reduces the risk of glaze cracking, and which helps reduce rejection caused by delayed cracking. At the same time, it maintains glaze gloss, thus preserving the aesthetic appeal of bone china products.
Where It Is Commonly Used
In the Chinese market, frit 512 is mainly used in bone china and high-end tableware. Our technical team recommends this frit primarily for: transparent glaze bone china, high-whiteness porcelain tableware, and thin-walled ceramic products sensitive to glaze stress, etc.
How We Check Each Batch
Each batch of GlazePeak 512 frit undergoes comprehensive internal testing, including: ① chemical composition verification ② thermal expansion coefficient measurement ③ melting point testing ④ particle size distribution detection.
Our technical and production teams ensure consistent product quality across every batch through data analysis.
Production Experience
In production clusters focused on bone china and refined porcelain, glaze stability is often evaluated not only at kiln exit but after months of storage and shipment.
This low-expansion transparent frit is used in applications where that long-term reliability is more important than aggressive melt behavior.

FAQ
Q1. Is it suitable for bone china?
Yes. The expansion range aligns better with bodies that are sensitive to glaze tension.
Q2. Will reducing expansion reduce transparency?
No. The formulation maintains a continuous glass phase, so clarity is preserved even with lower alkali content.
Q3. Can it be used in fast firing?
Within 950–1050°C, it works in standard industrial cycles. Extremely rapid firing may require viscosity adjustment.
